What was that song?  Today's songs are listed at Online Radio Box

We stopped listing songs on Twitter because they started charging a fee to tweet them

Comment on all this silliness:  Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/wzigradio

What kind of programming does WZIG have?

It is a much wider variety than heard on pop stations.  Be prepared to stretch your mind if you only like one genre of music.  Most will be a mix of well known with alternative, lesser-heard music.  Some will be from local musicians or comedians.

There will be some specialty shows for Greek, Upbeat Blues, true Alternative, Bizarre, British, Canadian, Party music on Friday/Saturday nights, local musicians, local sports, local issues and more.  Perhaps someday we'll have Egyptian, Jazz, Musicals, Classical and more.

We are looking for people to produce clips on these topics: Water pollution, flooding, storm preparation, personal health, government projects, environmental issues and homeowner issues.

Can I buy advertising?

Want to get word of your business out to a population area of 300,000 people PLUS 155,000 commuters every day?

You can purchase sponsor acknowledgements that sound like this:

"WZIG would like to thank acme hardware for their support,  45504 US 19 North, Palm Harbor, 727 934-0000, acmehardware.com"

This is actually a very effective ad because it keeps listeners and generates a positive reflection of your business.  Please CLICK HERE to sign up.

We are not allowed to go beyond that.  Besides, full-on advertising drives listeners away.  Nobody wants that.

How were the call letters WZIG chosen?

Just for silliness, the station is named after Ziggy, our Founding Canine, a Black Labrador Retriever.  He symbolizes the fun everyone is going to have creating programming for the station!

Moose, the current barker-in-charge, is the other bark you hear.

Can I produce a local community issues programming show for WZIG?

YES!  Moose would LOVE that!  PLEASE contact us at Paul (at) WZIG.org  Two paws up for you!

Production can be done at our main studio inside Snappers Comedy Club on US 19 N in Palm Harbor or at your production facility (which can consist of a PC, microphone and sound editing software).  Our community programs air at 8AM on the weekends.

Can I buy political announcements or buy an ad for a political candidate?

No, we're not allowed to.  Even if we could, politics doesn't mix well with the fun attitude we have.  There may be comedy that pokes fun at politics.

I am a local artist/band.  Can I get my music on WZIG?

Yes!  Please contact us at Paul ((at)) WZIG.org.  Local is what we're all about.  Faster, upbeat, happy music is strongly preferred.  Wake us up!  Make us smile!  The better the quality, the more it will get played.

Can I get your station on the internet?

Yes!  Click HERE  or  HERE.

How do I get Alexa (or other smart speaker) to play WZIG?

Try "Alexa, play WZIG"

If that doesn't work, try "Alexa, Play WZIG on Tunein".  If that doesn't work, Google "Alexa won't play radio station".

Can I get WZIG on IheartRadio?

Not yet, but we're trying!  IheartRadio is owned by Iheartmedia (formerly Clear Channel Broadcasting), who owns 850 radio stations across the country.  These are commercial stations.

Shoutcast.com is an open internet radio directory that lists WZIG.  So does the tune-in app.

itunes also has WZIG!

Can I get WZIG on itunes?

YES!

Can I be a DJ on WZIG?

If you are a local person of few words and you educate listeners about the music.  Teach us something we did not know.  Skip the chart positions and awards.  Give us the good stuff.  Can you fit an interesting story into 20 seconds?  If so, please email paul ((at)) WZIG.org for details.  Time slots are filling up!

If I'm a DJ, can I promote my DJ business?

With prior approval, you may note where you will be appearing and must disclose that you are paid.  Nothing more.

Can I produce a talk show?

Yes!  Shows by and about the community are part of the basic mission of the station.  Topics must be local and fun.  Email us at Paul  ((at)) WZIG.org

How much can I get paid to be a DJ or produce programming?

The station is all-volunteer and depends on volunteers and donations to keep it going.  You are paid in experience and fun.

Why is the station named after a dog?

Ziggy and Moose symbolize the fun that the station is all about.  It's not about big corporate profits.  It's about local people (and dogs).

Where is Ziggy?

Ziggy, the founding canine, departed in June 2021, leaving Moose in charge.  His barks and soul remain with the station to bring joy and laughter to future listeners.

Will there be religious programming?

Some Sunday morning time has been set aside for this if a church in the listening area requests it and covers the technical costs.

Is WZIG a pirate station?

WZIG is a real, honest-to-goodness FCC-licensed station.  Take a look at the FCC's web site at http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/sta_det.pl?Facility_id=196030  .  Officially, the call letters are WZIG-LP, meaning Low Power.

Where is your studio/office?

We strongly prefer to do business via email because this is mostly a one-dog operation.  Our main studio/office is at 36625 US Hwy 19 N, Palm Harbor.  There are humans there too.

Why is this web site so plain?

That's the kindest way to put it.  Priority #1: sound great.  Priority #99: look great (Except Moose, who always looks great).

We would love a beautification volunteer!

Where can I pick up WZIG?

Over the air on 104.1 FM:  Palm Harbor, East Lake, Tarpon Springs, Holiday and perhaps a bit into Dunedin and New Port Richey.

The reception depends on the atmosphere that day.  Sometimes big stations from Orlando or Tallahassee drown us out.  Sometimes we reach a lot further.

Here's a map of where we are normally heard.  The signal may reach out into the Gulf a ways, so give it a try in your boat!
